A college student named Anu enters into a courtship with her fellow student Sashi while dealing with her own melancholy and a life-threatening condition, eventually asking Sashi to reunite her father with a woman from his past before undergoing surgery and finding hope for her survival. Vivek Chithra Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) A. Sundaram. Keladi Kanmani is written by Sm Vasanth and Ilaiyaraaja and it is directed by Sm Vasanth. Vivek Chithra Productions acquired the distribution rights for the film. Keladi Kanmani was released on 27th July 1990 and takes a screen time of 147 minutes. Cinematography was done by R. Raghunatha Reddy and editing by Ganesh Kumar. The music was composed by National Award winner Ilaiyaraaja. At the 1991 South Filmfare Awards It won an award for Best Actress (Radhika Sarathkumar).
