Kadal is an Indian film centered around religion, revenge and redemption in a fishing village where a seminary graduate and an illegitimate son of a fisherman take on a former seminary student who aims to prove that evil reigns supreme - and in the end, good triumphs over evil. Kadal is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language Drama Romance movie starring Gautham Karthik, Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy, Thulasi Nair, Lakshmi Manchu, Arvind Swami and Vee Jenish. Madras Talkies in association with Gemini Film Circuit. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Mani Ratnam, Suhasini Maniratnam, A. Manohar Prasad, A. Anand Prasad, N. Subash Chandrabose and N. Lingusamy. Kadal is written by Jayamohan and Mani Ratnam and it is directed by Mani Ratnam. Gemini Film Circuit acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Kadal was released on 31st January 2013 and takes a screen time of 164 minutes. Kadal was made on a budget of ₹50 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Mani Ratnam and Jeyamohan. Cinematography was done by Rajiv Menon and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. The music was composed by Ar Rahman along with A. R. Rahman.
