An Afghan fruit seller befriends a Bengali girl in Calcutta but is sentenced to 10 years in prison for getting into a fight with a customer, he is released, visits the grown-up girl who he had befriended earlier but she doesnt recognize him, and is advised to return home with travel money and a gift for his sick daughter. Kabuliwala is a 1957 Indian Bengali-language Drama motion picture starring Chhabi Biswas, Oindrila Tagore, Asha Devi, Radhamohan Bhattacharya, Manju Dey, Jahar Roy and Manju Sharma. The movie is inspired from Kabuliwala by Rabindranath Tagore. Kabuliwala was Produced by Charuchitra. The movie is written and directed by Tapan Sinha. both acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Kabuliwala was released on 4th January 1957 and takes a screen time of 116 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Tapan Sinha. Cinematography was done by Anil Banerjee and editing by Subodh Ray. The music was composed by Pandit Ravi Shankar. At the 1957 Berlin International Film Festival It won an award for Special Prize. At the 1957 National Film Awards It also won an award for Best Feature Film.
