The story of Kaala is about a godfather who leads a group of Tamil Nadu migrants living in slums in Mumbais Dharavi, who fight against a corrupt Union Minister trying to evict them for personal gain. Kaala is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language Action Crime film starring Anasuya Bharadwaj, Srinivas Avasarala, Vennela Kishore, Huma Qureshi, Nana Patekar, Rajinikanth and Sumathi. Gayathri Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Dhanush and B. Narendra Reddy. Kaala is written by Pa Ranjith and Rajendra Bharadwaj and it is directed by Pa Ranjith and Rajesh Nadendla. Kaala was released on 7th June 2018 and takes a screen time of 117 minutes. Kaala was made on a budget of ₹140 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹150 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Rajendra Bharadwaj. Cinematography was done by Sathish Muthyala. The music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan along with Roshan Salur. At the 2019 It won an award for Best Supporting Actress (Easwari Rao).
