In 1820 Jamaica, the secret gang led by the innkeeper of Jamaica Inn, Joss Merlyn, orchestrates shipwrecks and murder, but Mary Yellan, who arrives at the inn to reunite with her aunt, unwittingly discovers their plan and teams up with an undercover law officer to thwart their scheme, ultimately leading to the downfall of the gang and the apprehension of the mastermind behind it, Sir Humphrey Pengallan. Jamaica Inn is a 1939 English-language Adventure Crime film starring Charles Laughton, Maureen O hara, Leslie Banks, Robert Newton, Horace Hodges, Hay Petrie and A. George Smith. The movie is inspired from Jamaica Inn 1936 novel by Daphne du Maurier. Mayflower Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Erich Pommer and Charles Laughton. Jamaica Inn is written by Sidney Gilliat, Joan Harrison, Alma Reville and J. B. Priestley and it is directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Mayflower Productions acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Jamaica Inn was released on 20th July 1939 and takes a screen time of 108 minutes.
