Jalsaghar is a drama about a rich landowner in Bengal who tries to maintain his familys honor during difficult financial times while facing a successful businessman who can put on better performances. Jalsaghar is a 1958 Indian Bengali-language Drama Musical film starring Chhabi Biswas, Padma Devi, Pinaki Sen Gupta, Gangapada Bose, Tulsi Lahari, Kali Sarkar and Pratap Mukherjee. The movie is inspired from Short story Jalsaghar by Tarasankar Bandyopadhyay. Aurora Film Corporation was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Satyajit Ray. Jalsaghar is written by Tarashankar Banerjee, Satyajit Ray and Santi P. Choudhury and it is directed by Satyajit Ray. Contemporary Films acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Jalsaghar was released on 10th October 1958 and takes a screen time of 95 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Satyajit Ray. Cinematography was done by Subrata Mitra and editing by Dulal Dutta. The music was composed by Ustad Vilayat Khan along with Vilayat Khan.
