Intermezzo Studio Alien Sense Films Pvt Ltd was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Girish Malik and Oneworld Films Pvt. Ltd. Jal is written by Rakesh Mishra, Girish Malik and Jagdeep Singh and it is directed by Girish Malik. DAR Motion Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Jal was released on 4th April 2014. Jal was made on a budget of ₹6 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹51 lakh. The screenplay for the movie was written by Girish Malik and Rakesh Mishra. Cinematography was done by Sunita Radia. The music was composed by IIFA Award winner Sonu Nigam along with Bickram Ghosh. At the 2014 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Special Effects.
