In a small village in India, Gauri, her father Laxmandas and her brother Gulab encounter a stranger named Ranjeet who helps Gauri with her foot wound and ultimately forms a relationship with her, as both of them get jobs in the governments dam construction project while Ranjeet secretly plans to retrieve a suitcase of gold he buried in their front yard, which was confiscated during his previous smuggling attempt.
