In This Corner of the World

A war crime animation film In This Corner of the World is based on the manga of the same name by Fumiyo Kono. It stars Rena Nonen in the lead role along with Yoshimasa Hosoya, Natsuki Inaba, Minori Omi, Daisuke Ono, Megumi Han, Shigeru Ushiyama, Mayumi Shintani, Nanase Iwai and Tengai Shibuya in supporting roles. During world war II, an eighteen-year-old girl is married to a man who hardly knows, how she manages the household during the war crisis forms the crux of the story. The film was written and directed by Sunao Katabuchi. It was produced by Masao Maruyama and Taro Maki under his production banner MAPPA and distributed by Tokyo Theatres. The cinematography was done by Yuya Kumazawa and edited by Kashiko Kimura. Music was composed by Kotringo. The film in its scenes brought to life the townscapes that were lost during the world war II. It occupies a screen time of 129 minutes and was released on November 12, 2016. The film received positive ratings when it was received and it got a 12A certificate. The film was made on a budget of $2. 2 million and it was a super hit at the box office with a collection of $22.5 million.
