The Leopard is a historical novel set in Sicily, where Don Fabrizio witnesses the transformation of Italy during the unification, sympathizes with rebellious forces against the Bourbon army, but ultimately chooses to preserve his privileged lifestyle, leading to a realization of the unavoidable changes to come.
