A journalist recounts the tumultuous life of Mahi Arora, a troubled actress with bipolar disorder, as she navigates complicated relationships, career hardships, and personal struggles before ultimately finding closure and moving on. Heroine is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language Drama movie starring Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahana Goswami, Pooja Chopra and Rahul Jaiswal. UTV Motion Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Madhur Bhandarkar, Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Heroine is written by Madhur Bhandarkar, Niranjan Iyengar, Anuradha Tiwari and Anuraadha Tewari and it is directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. UTV Motion Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Heroine was released on 21st September 2012 and takes a screen time of 146 minutes. Heroine was made on a budget of ₹35 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹33 crore. Cinematography was done by Mahesh Limaye and editing by Deven Murudeshwar. The music was composed by Filmfare Award winner Salim Merchant along with Sulaiman Merchant and Salim Sulaiman.
