A courageous hero takes on corruption and injustice in a fictional city, with the support of a young woman, in an action-packed thriller that explores themes of justice, bravery, and the power of a common man to bring about change. Hero is a 2003 Chinese Mandarin-language Drama motion picture starring Jet Li, Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Chen Daoming, Zhang Ziyi, Donnie Yen and Vinod Prabhakar. Sil-Metropole Organisation in association with CFCC , Elite Group Enterprises , Zhang Yimou Studio and Beijing New Picture Film. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Zhang Yimou. Hero is written by Feng Li, Bin Wang and Zhang Yimou and it is directed by Zhang Yimou. Beijing New Picture Film acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Hero was released on 13th June 2003 and takes a screen time of 99 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Hero was made on a budget of $31 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $177 million. Cinematography was done by Christopher Doyle and editing by Angie Lam. The music was composed by Tan Dun.
