Red Chillies Entertainment was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Karim Morani and Karuna Badwal. Happy New Year is written by Althea Kaushal, Farah Khan and Mayur Puri and it is directed by Farah Khan. Yash Raj Films acquired the distribution rights for the film. The movie has a running time of 181 minutes. Happy New Year was made on a budget of ₹150 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹178 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Farah Khan and Althea Kaushal. Cinematography was done by Manush Nandan and editing by Anand Subaya and Tushar Parekh. The music was composed by IIFA Award winner Vishal Dadlani along with Shekhar Ravjiani, :, Vishal Shekhar, Dr Zeus, Manj Musik and John Stewart Eduri.
