Gulabi Talkies

Gulabi, an impulsive midwife living in a fishing village, becomes the owner of the first color television, causing communal tension between the village people and a Muslim businessman. Gulabi Talkies is a 2008 Indian Kannada-language Drama motion picture featuring Umashree, K. G. Krishna Murthy, M. D. Pallavi, K.g. Krishnamurthy, Poornima Mohan, M.d. Pallavi and Sujatha Shetty. The movie is inspired from Gulabi Talkies and Other Stories by Vaidehi. Gulabi Talkies was Produced by Amrutha Patil and Basanth Kumar Patil. The movie is directed by Girish Kasaravalli. Basanth Productions acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Gulabi Talkies was released on 5th September 2008 and takes a screen time of 123 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Girish Kasaravalli. Cinematography was done by S. Ramachandra and editing by M. N. Swamy and S. Manohar. The music was composed by Isaac Thomas Kottukapally. At the 2008 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Actress (Umashree). At the 2008 National Film Awards It also won an award for Best Feature Film in Kannada.
