Horror Mystery Thriller
A psychiatrist-turned-patient at a penitentiary becomes a murder suspect, has visions of a deceased woman, uncovers evidence of her husbands crimes, and ultimately escapes while facing off against a corrupt sheriff. Gothika is a 2003 American English-language Horror Mystery movie featuring Halle Berry, Robert Downey Jr., Charles S. Dutton, John Carroll Lynch, Bernard Hill, Pen Lope Cruz and Noah Bernett. Columbia Pictures in association with Dark Castle Entertainment. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Joel Silver, Robert Zemeckis and Susan Levin. Gothika is written by Sebastian Gutierrez and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz. Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Gothika was released on 21st November 2003 and takes a screen time of 98 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Gothika was made on a budget of $40 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $141 million. Cinematography was done by Matthew Libatique and editing by Yannick Kergoat. The music was composed by Academy Award Oscar winner John Ottman along with Lior Rosner.

Slumming arthouse veteran Mathieu Kassovitz directs with the frenetic overkill of someone who doesnt trust his own material, and with good reason: While stylistic excess keeps Gothika mildly diverting, though suspense and horror free, he cant do anything to keep the films ending from degenerating into camp.
