Gandhi is a 1982 American English-language Biography Drama movie starring Candice Bergen, Edward Fox, John Gielgud, Trevor Howard, John Mills, Martin Sheen and Virender Razdan. Amblin Television in association with Paramount Television and 20th Century Fox Television. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Richard Attenborough. Gandhi is written by John Briley and directed by Richard Attenborough. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Gandhi was released on 8th December 1982 and takes a screen time of 191 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Gandhi was made on a budget of $22 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $52 million. Cinematography was done by Billy Williams and Ronnie Taylor and editing by John Bloom. The music was composed by Ravi Shankar along with George Fenton. At the 1983 Oscar Awards It won 8 awards including: Best Actor in a Leading Role (Ben Kingsley), Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Costume Design and Best Film Editing.
