A young orphan forms a bond with a captive whale named Willy and, with the help of his new friends, manages to save him from his owner and reunite him with his family in the ocean. Free Willy is written by Keith Walker, Corey Blechman, Franklin Coen, Frank Davis and Walter Bernstein and it is directed by Simon Wincer and John Frankenheimer. United Artists acquired the distribution rights for the film. Free Willy was released on 16th July 1993 and takes a screen time of 133 minutes. The Film was successful at box office.
