A scientist makes a last stand on Earth with the help of a ragtag team of soldiers against an invasion of alien phantoms. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is a 2001 American English-language Animation Action movie starring Ming-na Wen, Alec Baldwin, James Woods, Donald Sutherland, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi and Eric Aten. The movie is based on Final Fantasy by Hironobu Sakaguchi. Square Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Chris Lee and Jun Aida. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is written by Hironobu Sakaguchi, Al Reinert, Jeff Vintar, Jack Fletcher, Ramin Mebdy and B.l. Jurgens and it is directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi and Motonori Sakakibara. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was released on 12th July 2001 and takes a screen time of 106 minutes. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was made on a budget of $137 million and at the box office it grossed only $85 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Al Reinert and Jeff Vintar. Editing was done by Chris S. Capp. The music was composed by Elliot Goldenthal.
