The film is set in 1950s Pittsburgh and follows the life of Troy Maxson, a garbage collector with a troubled past who faces financial strain, tension with his sons, infidelity with his wife Rose, and a tragic death, all while dealing with racial barriers and ultimately bringing his family together in their final farewell. Fences is written by August Wilson and directed by Denzel Washington. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Fences was released on 25th December 2016 and takes a screen time of 139 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Fences was made on a budget of $24 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $64 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by August Wilson. Cinematography was done by Charlotte Bruus Christensen and editing by Hughes Winborne. The music was composed by Marcelo Zarvos. At the 2017 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Viola Davis).
