True story of the life of Jimmy Piersall, who battled mental illness to achieve stardom in major league baseball. Fear Strikes Out is a 1957 American English-language Biography Drama motion picture featuring Anthony Perkins, Karl Malden, Norma Moore, Adam Williams, Perry Wilson, Peter J. Votrian and John Yates. The movie is based on Fear Strikes Out: The Jim Piersall Story by Jimmy Piersall and Al Hirshberg. Fear Strikes Out was Produced by Martin Manulis. Fear Strikes Out is written by Ted Berkman, Raphael Blau, Jimmy Piersall and Al Hirshberg and it is directed by Robert Mulligan and Herbert B. Swope Jr. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The motion picture has a running time of 100 min. The screenplay for the movie was written by Ted Berkman and Raphael Blau. Cinematography was done by Haskell B. Boggs and editing by Aaron Stell. The music was composed by Elmer Bernstein.
