In a dystopian future where Earth is suffering from environmental devastation, a hacker named Spider devises a plan to smuggle people to the prosperous space station called Elysium in order to cure their illnesses, leading to a perilous journey for Max Da Costa as he battles the Defense Secretary and her hired assassin to acquire the technology that could save his life and provide access to Earths population. Elysium is a 2013 American English-language Action Drama motion picture starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, Wagner Moura and Peter Muyzers. Elysium was Produced by Simon Kinberg, Bill Block and Neill Blomkamp. The movie is written and directed by Neill Blomkamp. Sony Pictures Releasing acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Elysium was released on 15th August 2013 and takes a screen time of 109 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Elysium was made on a budget of $115 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $286 million. Cinematography was done by Trent Opaloch and editing by Julian Clarke and Lee Smith. The music was composed by Ryan Amon.

The film is by no means bad, and probably a rung or two above mediocre, but while its visuals and technical merits are uniformly remarkable, Elysium as a whole lacks the spark of great filmmaking, stumbling constantly over its own thematic interests and failing entirely to produce genuine emotional investment in the heart of the viewer.
