In a future world, the control of the planet Arrakis, the only source of the valuable spice melange, leads to war and the emergence of a messiah figure with powerful abilities who defeats the ruling Emperor and fulfills a prophecy. Dune is a 1984 American English-language Action Adventure film starring Francesca Annis, Leonardo Cimino, Brad Dourif, Jos Ferrer, Linda Hunt, Freddie Jones and Rubén Márquez. The movie is based on Dune by Frank Herbert. Dino De Laurentiis Corporation was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Denis Villeneuve and Raffaella De Laurentiis. Dune is written by Denis Villeneuve, Eric Roth, Jon Spaihts, Frank Herbert and David Lynch and it is directed by Denis Villeneuve and David Lynch. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Dune was released on 14th December 1984 and takes a screen time of 137 minutes. Dune was made on a budget of $40 million and at the box office it grossed only $30 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by David Lynch. Cinematography was done by Freddie Francis and editing by Antony Gibbs. The music was composed by Toto along with Brian Eno.
