A group of drug addicts led by Bob engage in drug thefts while being pursued by Detective Gentry, but after a series of events including a robbery gone wrong and the death of their teenage girlfriend, Bob decides to get clean through a methadone treatment program until he is attacked and shot, leaving him contemplating a return to his former life of addiction. Drugstore Cowboy is a 1989 American English-language Crime Drama film featuring Matt Dillon, Kelly Lynch, James Remar, James Legros, Heather Graham, William Burroughs and Tom Peterson. The movie is inspired from Drugstore Cowboy by James Fogle. Drugstore Cowboy was Produced by Karen Murphy, Cary Brokaw and Nick Wechsler. The movie is directed by Gus Van Sant. International Video Entertainment acquired the distribution rights for the film.
