Dreamgirls

In 1962 Detroit, a car salesman turned music manager manipulates and exploits a Black girl group, sacrificing their dreams and relationships for his personal gain, but eventually faces the consequences of his actions as the group discovers the truth and finds their own success. Dreamgirls is a 2006 American English-language Drama Musical film starring Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Beyonc Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, Anika Noni Rose and Kyra Oser. The movie is inspired from Dreamgirls by Henry Krieger and Tom Eyen. Banner Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Laurence Mark. Dreamgirls is written by Tom Eyen, Bill Condon, Simon Ragoonanan and Steven Vinacour and it is directed by Bill Condon and John F.d. Northover. DreamWorks Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Dreamgirls was released on 25th December 2006 and takes a screen time of 130 minutes. Dreamgirls was made on a budget of $80 million and at the box office it grossed only $15 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Bill Condon. Cinematography was done by Tobias A. Schliessler and editing by Virginia Katz. The music was composed by Stephen Trask. At the 2007 Oscar Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Jennifer Hudson) and Best Achievement in Sound Mixing.
