Dr. Asbjørnsen invents downsizing to combat overpopulation and global warming, but after Pauls wife leaves him, he teams up with a downsized activist named Ngoc Lan to assist those in need, ultimately choosing to help others instead of joining a plan to save humanity from extinction caused by Arctic methane emissions. Downsizing is a 2017 American English-language Comedy Drama film featuring Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Kristen Wiig, Rolf Lassgard, Ingjerd Egeberg and Rune Temte. Ad Hominem Enterprises was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Alexander Payne, Jim Burke, Mark Johnson, Megan Ellison and Jim Taylor. Downsizing is written by Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor and it is directed by Alexander Payne. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Downsizing was released on 11th January 2018 and takes a screen time of 135 minutes. Downsizing was made on a budget of $68 million and at the box office it grossed only $55 million. Cinematography was done by Phedon Papamichael and editing by Kevin Tent. The music was composed by Rolfe Kent.
