Dheepam

Raja, who is actually Somu, becomes a smuggler and inherits his fathers wealth, but due to his criminal activities, he is unable to find a suitable groom for his sister and sacrifices his own life to ensure her happiness. Dheepam is a 1977 Indian Tamil-language Drama motion picture featuring Sivaji Ganesan, Sujatha, Vijayakumar, Shivaji Ganesan, Aachi Manorama, Jai Ganesh and Satya Priya. Suresh Arts was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) K. Balaji. Dheepam is written by A. L. Narayanan and directed by K. Vijayan. Sujatha Cine Arts acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Dheepam was released on 26th January 1977. Cinematography was done by G. Or. Nathan and editing by B. Kanthasamy. The music was composed by National Award winner Ilaiyaraaja.
