Jamie Ashen and his wife Lisa receive a ventriloquist doll named Billy as a gift, but after Lisa is killed and Jamie is blamed, he investigates the history of Mary Shaw, a deceased ventriloquist from his hometown, and discovers her vengeful plot against his family, leading to his own demise. Dead Silence is written by Leigh Whannell and James Wan and it is directed by James Wan. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Dead Silence was released on 23rd August 2007 and takes a screen time of 89-92 minutes. Dead Silence was made on a budget of $20 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $22 million.
