A renowned swordsman and his warrior friend pursue a stolen sword and its mastermind, all while exploring themes of love, loyalty, and personal growth in Qing dynasty China. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a 2000 English-language Action Adventure movie featuring Chow Yun-fat, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen, Lang Sihung, Cheng Pei-pei and Sao Chen Chang. The movie is inspired from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon by Wang Dulu. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was Produced by Ang Lee, Li-kong Hsu, William Kong, Bill Kong and Hsu Li-kong. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is written by Du Lu Wang, Hui-ling Wang, James Schamus and Kuo Jung Tsai and it is directed by Ang Lee. Sony Pictures Classics acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was released on 6th July 2000 and takes a screen time of 120 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was made on a budget of $17 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $213 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Wang Hui-ling, James Schamus and Tsai Kuo-jung. Cinematography was done by Peter Pau and editing by Tim Squyres. The music was composed by Academy Award Oscar winner Dun Tan along with Tan Dun. At the 2001 Oscar Awards It won 4 awards including: Best Cinematography, Best Music, Original Score, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Foreign Language Film.
