Cidade de Deus is a shantytown that started during the 1960s and became one of Rio de Janeiro’s most dangerous places in the beginning of the 1980s. To tell the story of this place, the movie describes the life of various characters, all seen by the point of view of the narrator, Buscapé. Buscapé was raised in a very violent environment. Despite the feeling that all odds were against him, he finds out that life can be seen with other eyes.. City of God is a 2003 Portuguese-language film starring Alexandre Rodrigues, Leandro Firmino Da Hora, Jonathan Haagensen, Phellipe Haagensen, Douglas Silva, Daniel Zettel and Seu Jorge. The movie is based on City of God by Paulo Lins. O2 Filmes in association with VideoFilmes and Hank Levine Film. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Andrea Barata Ribeiro and Maur Cio Andrade Ramos. The movie is directed by Fernando Meirelles. Miramax Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. City of God was released on 19th March 2003 and takes a screen time of 130-135 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. City of God was made on a budget of $3 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $30 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Br ulio Mantovani. Cinematography was done by C sar Charlone and editing by Daniel Rezende. The music was composed by Ant Nio Pinto along with Ed C Rtes.
