Vincent Lamarca, whose father was executed for a 1950s kidnapping of a child, grew up to become a police officer, only to his own son become a murder suspect. City by the Sea is a 2002 American English-language Crime Drama motion picture starring Robert De Niro, Frances Mcdormand, James Franco, Eliza Dushku, William Forsythe, George Dzundza and Riley G. Matthews Jr. The movie is inspired from Mark of a Murderer 1997 Esquire article by Michael McAlary. Franchise Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Don Carmody, Andrew Stevens, Roger Paradiso and Dan Klores. City by the Sea is written by Mike Mcalary and Ken Hixon and it is directed by Michael Caton-jones. Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. City by the Sea was released on 6th September 2002 and takes a screen time of 104 minutes. City by the Sea was made on a budget of $40 million and at the box office it grossed only $29 million. Cinematography was done by Karl Walter Lindenlaub and editing by Jim Clark. The music was composed by John Murphy.
