Chowringhee

The film portrays the tragic events experienced by Shankar and the intertwining relationships of various characters he encounters while working at a prestigious hotel in Kolkata. Chowringhee is a 1968 Indian Bengali-language Drama motion picture starring Uttam Kumar, Supriya Devi, Utpal Dutt, Biswajit, Supriya Choudhury, Anjana Bhowmik and Biren Roy. The movie is inspired from Chowringhee by Mani Shankar Mukherjee. Pompy Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Ashima Bhattachariya. Chowringhee is written by Miltu Ghosh, Manisankar sankar Mukherjee, Amal Sarkar, Rabindranath Tagore and Mani Shankar Mukherjee and it is directed by Pinaki Bhushan Mukherji and Pinaki Bhushan Mukherjee. Pompy Films acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Chowringhee was released on 7th March 1968 and takes a screen time of 141 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Amal Sarkar. Cinematography was done by Dinen Gupta and editing by Kali Raha. The music was composed by Ashima Bhattacharjee along with Rabindranath Tagore.
