The story of J C Daniel, who made the first ever Malayalam film 'Vigathakumaran' in 1928, resulting in his exile and eventual downfall. Celluloid is a 2013 Indian Malayalam-language Biography Drama motion picture starring Sreenivasan, Mamta Mohandas, Nedumudi Venu, Chandni, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Chandini and Shafeer Sait. The movie is based on Life of J. C. Daniel by Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan Nashta Naayika by Vinu Abraham. Prime Time Cinema was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Kamal and Ubaid. Celluloid is written by Vinu Abraham, Kamal and Ubaid and it is directed by Kamal. Murali Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Celluloid was released on 15th February 2013 and takes a screen time of 129 minutes. The movie made a box office gross of ₹16 crore. Cinematography was done by Venu and editing by K. Rajagopal. The music was composed by M. Jayachandran.
