A melodramatic film Boyhood features Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, Lorelei Linklater, and Ethan Hawke. This 2014 English film was written and directed by Richard Linklater. Olivia a single mother lives in a small town in Texas with her son Mason and her daughter. The boy’s perspective of being a 6 year old up to his growth into a college student is portrayed beautifully in the film. It was produced by Richard Linklater, Cathleen Sutherland, Jonathan Sehring and John Sloss. It was tastefully captured by Lee Daniel and Shane Kelly and edited by Sandra Adair. The period of shooting the movie was 12 years and the main lead Ellar Coltrane was 7 years old when the filming started. He was 19 by the time the movie was completed. The time taken for covering each year of Mason’s life was about 14 minutes. It was released on July 11, 2014, and has a running time of 165 minutes. The movie was made on a budget of $4 million and it grossed $57.3 million at the box office. The distribution rights were acquired by IFC Films and Universal Pictures. An R certificate for the movie was provided by the MPAA.
