The movie is inspired from Shankar Guru by V. Somashekhar. Sivaji Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Santhi Narayansamy, and T. Manohar. Bhagwan Shri Krishna is written by Subodh Shukla and A. L. Narayanan and it is directed by Ramkumar Bohra and K. Vijayan. Bhagwan Shri Krishna was released on 7th March 1985. The motion picture made a box office gross of ₹3 crore. Cinematography was done by K. S. Prasad and T. S. Vinayagam and editing by B. Kandhasamy. The music was composed by M. S. Viswanathan.
