Begum Jaan is a story set during Indias partition in 1947, where a stubborn prostitute fights to keep her brothel that lies on the land that the Radcliffe Line is to pass through. Begum Jaan is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language Action Drama motion picture featuring Vidya Balan, Ila Arun, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajit Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vivek Mushran and Ridheema Tiwari. The movie is inspired from Rajkahini. Vishesh Films in association with Shree Venkatesh Films, Play Entertainments and Khurana Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt, Mahindra Soni and Srikanto Mohta. Begum Jaan is written by Niranjan Iyengar, Srijit Mukherji, Monisha R Baldawa and Kausar Munir and it is directed by Srijit Mukherji. NH Studioz acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Begum Jaan was released on 14th April 2017 and takes a screen time of 127 minutes. Begum Jaan was made on a budget of ₹19 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹20 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Srijit Mukherji and Kausar Munir. Cinematography was done by Gopi Bhagat and editing by Monisha R. Baldawa and Vivek Mishra. The music was composed by National Award winner Anu Malik along with Indraadip Dasgupta.
