A modern-day take on the Beauty and the Beast tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love. Beastly is a 2011 American English-language Drama Fantasy motion picture starring Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-kate Olsen, Peter Krause, Lisagay Hamilton, Neil Patrick Harris and Devin Mroz. The movie is inspired from Beastly by Alex Flinn. Beastly was Produced by Susan Cartsonis, Roz Weisberg and Michael Flynn. Beastly is written by Daniel Barnz and Alex Flinn and it is directed by Daniel Barnz. CBS Films acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Beastly was released on 12th May 2011 and takes a screen time of 86 minutes. Beastly was made on a budget of $17 million and at the box office it grossed only $1 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Daniel Barnz. Cinematography was done by Mandy Walker and editing by Thomas J. Nordberg. The music was composed by Marcelo Zarvos.

Meanwhile, Lisa Gay Hamilton (as a saintly magical Negro maid) acts as if this is an indie drama, while Hudgens plays her role for tender romance, Olsen embraces the camp, and Pettyfer delivers his lines with a thuddingly strained casualness that suggests he doesnt believe a word hes saying.
