The plot centers on the intertwining lives of a poor thief Raj , the privileged Rita , and Judge Raghunath who is unaware that Raj is his son. Awara is a 1951 Indian Hindi-language Drama Musical movie featuring Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Leela Chitnis, K. N. Singh, Shashi Kapoor, Nargis Dutt and Prem Nath. All India Film Corporation in association with and R.K. Films. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Raj Kapoor. Awara is written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas and V.p. Sathe and it is directed by Raj Kapoor. R.K. Films acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Awara was released on 14th December 1951 and takes a screen time of 193 minutes. The motion picture made a box office gross of ₹15 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. Cinematography was done by Radhu Karmakar and editing by G.G. Mayekar. The music was composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
