The movie is inspired from Kanithan. Chamundi Cine Creations was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Arun Vaidyanathan, Jayaram Subramaniam, Prem, Dr. Venugopal and Gandasi Manjunath. Athiratha is written by Arun Vaidyanathan and T. N. Santhosh and it is directed by Mahesh Babu and Arun Vaidyanathan. Vijay Cinemas acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Athiratha was released on 24th November 2017 and takes a screen time of 140 min. Cinematography was done by Jai Anand and editing by Muniraj. The music was composed by Suraag.
