The Middleman is a film set during the 1943 famine in India that follows the contrasting ideals of Brahmin teacher Gangacharan and his wife Ananga and their conflicting views on self-preservation versus altruism during a time of crisis. Ashani Sanket is a 1973 Indian Bengali-language Drama film featuring Soumitra Chatterjee, Sandhya Roy, Monu Mukherjee, Bobita Akhter, Chitra Banerjee, Paritosh Banerjee and Bishnu Sen. The movie is inspired from Ashani Sanket by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay. Balaka Movies was the production house involved in the project. Ashani Sanket is written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay and Satyajit Ray and it is directed by Satyajit Ray. Nanda Bhattacharya acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Ashani Sanket was released on 15th August 1973 and takes a screen time of 101 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Satyajit Ray. Cinematography was done by Soumendu Roy and editing by Dulal Dutta. The music was composed by National Award winner Satyajit Ray. At the 1974 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Music Director.
