Arjun Reddy, a corny romantic movie that portrays the life of a surgeon who resorts to drug abuse and alcoholism after his girlfriend is compelled to marry another person. The film was written and directed by Sandeep Vanga. The film features Vijay Devarkonda and Shalini Pandey. The film was produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga for Bhadrakali Pictures. The film was mired in controversy. Filmmakers were accused of plagiarism by D. Nagaraju who claimed the script to be his. He also demanded INR 2 crores as compensation and Hanumantha Rao Congress Rajya Sabha member lodged a complaint against the movie stating that it promoted sexual abuse and substance abuse in colleges and hospitals respectively. The film received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. The Board had also instructed the makers to alter the drug abuse scenes and insert statutory warnings. Radhan composed the music of the film and the background score was done by Harshavardhan Rameshwar. The scenes were skillfully captured by Raj Thota and efficiently edited by Shashank Mali. With a running time of 186 minutes and the film was released on 25 August 2017. The film was estimated to have collected INR 510 million at the box office and was made on a budget of INR 51.5 million.
