A young man named Apu and his mother rebuild their lives in different parts of India after the death of his father. Aparajito is a 1956 Indian Bengali-language Drama film featuring Pinaki Sengupta, Kanu Banerjee, Karuna Banerjee, Smaran Ghosal, Ramani Sengupta, Charaprakash Ghosh and Udayshankar Tiwari. The movie is based on Pather Panchali and Aparajito by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay. Epic Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Satyajit Ray and Epic Films. Aparajito is written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, Satyajit Ray and Kanailal Basu and it is directed by Satyajit Ray. Merchant Ivory Productions acquired the distribution rights for the film. Aparajito was released on 11th October 1956 and takes a screen time of 113 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Satyajit Ray.
