The film Anatahan portrays a power struggle among 12 Japanese seamen stranded on an island for seven years, with a young Japanese woman as the ultimate prize, exploring themes of discipline, power, and human nature in isolation. Anatahan is a 1953 Japanese Japanese-language Drama War motion picture featuring Akemi Negishi, Tadashi Suganuma, Kisaburo Sawamura, Shôji Nakayama, Jun Fujikawa, Hiroshi Kondô and Shirô Amakusa. Daiwa Production Inc. was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Kazuo Takimura. The movie is directed by Josef Von Sternberg. Toho acquired the distribution rights for the film. Anatahan was released on 28th June 1953 and takes a screen time of 92 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Josef von Sternberg and Tatsuo Asano. Cinematography was done by Josef von Sternberg and editing by Mitsuz Miyata. The music was composed by Akira Ifukube.
