Shahenshah Jalal-ud-din Akbar, a fair ruler of Hindustan, had a kind relationship with Hindus, married a Hindu Rajput, and faced a difficult situation when his son wanted to marry a woman named Anarkali, forcing him to address social and economic inequality. Anarkali is a 1953 Indian Hindi-language History Musical movie featuring Pradeep Kumar, Bina Rai, Kuldip Kaur, Mubarak, Ruby Mayer, S.l. Puri and Noor Jehan. The movie is based on An rkal by Imtiaz Ali Taj. Filmistan Ltd. was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Filmistan Ltd. Anarkali is written by Hameed Butt, Nasir Hussain and Ramesh Saigal and it is directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal. Filmistan Ltd. acquired the distribution rights for the film. Anarkali was released on 1st January 1953 and takes a screen time of 148 mins. The film made a box office gross of ₹2 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Ramesh Saigal.
