Amrapali

In this story, King Ajaatshatru of Magadh is determined to conquer the city of Vaishali, disguises himself as a soldier to seek shelter with a woman named Amrapali, but after she discovers his identity, she distances herself from him and becomes the Royal Dancer of Vaishali, leading to her being sentenced to life in a dungeon as a traitor, which ultimately leads to Ajaatshatru destroying Vaishali and rescuing Amrapali, who then decides to surrender herself to Gautama Buddha along with Ajaatshatru. Amrapali is a 1966 Indian Hindi-language Musical Fantasy film starring Sunil Dutt, Prem Nath, Vyjayanthimala Bali, Bipin Gupta, Gajanan Jagirdar, Zul Vellani and Tina Katkar. Eagle Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) F.c. Mehra. Amrapali is written by Arjun Dev Rashk, Omkar Saheb, Balbir Singh and : Omkar Sahib and it is directed by Lekh Tandon. Amrapali was released on 11th September 1966. Cinematography was done by Dwarka Divecha and editing by Pran Mehra. The music was composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
