Alaap

Namak Haraam follows the story of a son who defies his fathers wishes to work in the family law firm and instead pursues a life of music and ultimately faces a conflict with his father when he starts a successful horse-carriage business. Alaap is a 1977 Indian Hindi-language Musical Drama film featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Farida Jalal, Om Prakash, Rekha Ganesan, Chhaya Devi, Govardhan Asrani and Raj Mata. Alaap was Produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, N. C. Sippy and Romu N. Sippy. Alaap is written by Bimal Dutta, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Jehan Nayyar, Rahi Masoom Reza, Biren Tripathy and Rahi Masoom Raza and it is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Rupam Chitra acquired the distribution rights for the film. Alaap was released on 8th April 1977 and takes a screen time of 161 minutes. Alaap was made on a budget of ₹2 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹12 lakh. The screenplay for the movie was written by Bimal Dutta. Cinematography was done by Jaywant Pathare and editing by Khan Zaman Khan. The music was composed by National Award winner Jaidev Verma along with Rahi Masoom Raza.
