An undercover cop in a not-too-distant future becomes involved with a dangerous new drug and begins to lose his own identity as a result. A Scanner Darkly is a 2006 American English-language Animation Crime movie starring Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder, Rory Cochrane, Robert Downey Jr and Gary Teague. The movie is based on A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick. Thousand Words in association with Section Eight, Detour Filmproduction and 3 Arts Entertainment. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Tommy Pallotta, Anne Walker-mcbay, Palmer West, Jonah Smith and Erwin Stoff. A Scanner Darkly is written by Philip K. Dick and Richard Linklater and it is directed by Richard Linklater. Warner Independent Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. A Scanner Darkly was released on 28th July 2006 and takes a screen time of 100 minutes. A Scanner Darkly was made on a budget of $8 million and at the box office it grossed only $7 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Richard Linklater. Cinematography was done by Shane F. Kelly and editing by Sandra Adair. The music was composed by Graham Reynolds.
