UTV Motion Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. 2 States was released on 17th April 2014 and takes a screen time of 150 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. 2 States was made on a budget of ₹45 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹101 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Abhishek Varman. Cinematography was done by Binod Pradhan and editing by Namrata Rao. The music was composed by IIFA Award winner Ehsaan Noorani along with Loy Mendonsa, Shankar Mahadevan, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Tubby-parik.
