Tim Kirkby is an English film, television and commercials director woking in both the UK and US. He directed both spoof science parody series Look Around You and the BAFTA winning BBC 2 show Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. Recent television credits include, the critically acclaimed Fleabag, and in the US "Brockmire, where he has directed all 8 episodes and co-executive produced for IFC. The show premiered on April 5, 2017. He also set up and directed the first season off the critically acclaimed and Bafta nominated, My Mad Fat Diary, and SKY & NBC's You, Me and the Apocalypse, and the BAFTA nominated The C Word. Also in the US, he has directed the Emmy winning HBO show Veep (TV series), in which he directed episodes from season 2 & 3. Grace & Frankie, Brooklyn Nine Nine, & Man Seeking Woman. He has previously made documentaries with Motörhead, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest for the multi-award winning documentary strand - Classic Albums. Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, a six-part comedy series featuring standup and sketches, began a six-episode run on 16 March 2009; the first episode was watched by approximately 1 million viewers. It was executive produced by Armando Iannucci and script edited by Chris Morris. The first episode received positive reviews from The Independent and The Daily Mirror, although the show received a negative review, written by Stewart Lee in Time Out, in which he described himself as "fat" and his performance as "positively Neanderthal, suggesting a jungle-dwelling pygmy, struggling to coax notes out of a clarinet that has fallen from a passing aircraft". The second series won a BAFTA for Best Comedy Programme in 2012 Look Around You won a Golden Rose at the Festival Rose d'Or for Best Comedy, and along with Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle' was nominated for a BAFTA and a British Comedy Award. Kombat Opera won 2 Golden Rose awards in 2008 (for Best Comedy and Best of 2008).
