USA

Paul Harrison Tibbitt is an American animator, television producer, writer, storyboard artist, songwriter, voice actor, and director, best known for working on the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. He was the co-executive producer of the show and was also the voice of Potty the Parrot; he has also voiced DoodleBob and previously voiced Betsy Krabs before Sirena Irwin took over. He made his feature film directorial debut directing The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. Tibbitt studied in the Character Animation program at the California Institute of the Arts. After creator Stephen Hillenburg resigned in 2004, Tibbitt took the position of showrunner for SpongeBob. Hillenburg, who continued to review episodes and offer suggestions to the series' production crew after resigning, eventually returned to the show in 2015 as an executive producer, now having greater creative input and attending crew meetings. In 2015, Vincent Waller, creative director of the series, and Marc Ceccarelli, a writer and storyboard director for the series, took Paul Tibbitt's place as supervising producer and showrunner. It was also announced that Tibbitt would leave the series after season 9 to work on the third SpongeBob movie (which is being produced without the involvement of the show's crew by a separate crew), with no plans to return following the movie.
