Mandy Harvey (born ca 1988) is a deaf American jazz and pop singer and songwriter. Harvey was born with hearing problems and had several surgeries as a child to try to correct them. She sang throughout her childhood and her talent was recognized in her high school. She lost her remaining hearing when she was eighteen, while she was majoring in singing education at Colorado State University; as a result she left the university. In 2008 she ran into one of her professors from CSU, Cynthia Vaughn, who introduced her to jazz pianist Mark Sloniker at Jay's Bistro in Fort Collins, where she began performing regularly. In 2011 Harvey won VSA's International Young Soloist Award. In 2017, Harvey appeared on America's Got Talent, getting the "golden buzzer" from Simon Cowell to pass to the next round, and the video of her performance went viral.
